Samsung - Poor Picture W/ Prog.Scan DVD (1 Viewer)

I am so lost and kinda down because I bought a new Samsung 42" TheaterWide HDTV (RPTV HCM4215W) and a Samsung Prog.Scan DVD (DVD-P421) and I the picture looks like crap. Basically looks the same as a old TV I used to have from Target. I can see pixels. In the instruction for the DVD player it says look at the TV's manual to see if it can accept Prg.Scan. My TV manual says nothing about it.

I am using the High Performance Component Monster Cables. Am I just not doing something right? The picture looks just like my cable box...

Must be doing something wrong. make sure the DVD is outputing to 480p and the Tv is set to receive a 480P signal. Then turn your contrast down to
