I'm currently looking to get a 42" widescreen RPTV. I was going to get the Toshiba, but then I saw the Samsung HCN4226WX at Future Shop. I was quite impressed with the picture quality and it sells for $300 less than the Toshiba.

Does anyone here have experience with this Samsung set? If so, I'd really like to hear your thoughts.

I do. I had a 42" Samsung RPTV during junior year (HCM-4215W). It was my first widescreen TV, but I was extremely pleased with its performance. There are only two issues that I can think of. The first is that the set exhibited a mild red push that wasn't really noticeable with a clean component signal, but was quite evident with low-quality cable television. Professional calibration would probably fix this. The second issue is that the convergence tended to drift. However, I strongly suspect it was due to the SVS subwoofer that was placed right beside the TV.
