S26's as large? (1 Viewer)

I'm just starting out in Home Theater, right now I'm using JBL's S26II's as mains and a Harman/Kardon AVR225 as the receiver. I don't have a subwoofer just yet. I was wondering if running such bookshelf speakers as mains and set as "large" on the receiver could damage them while playing movies and other source material with some substantive low frequencies? Or is the worst case scenerio that I will just be missing out on those low sounds?

Adding a sub will add the Full LFE sub-sonic impact to your blockbuster DVD's like "Finding Nemo"; "Star Trek Nemesis": "Indiana Jones"; "Hulk"; etc., while at the same time revealing all the lower bass content of your Music CD's. I use the SVS 25-31PCi (since APR '02) and the combination is expressed in my signature below!!!
