on my Denon AVR-3200 is there a way to Check this out. or How expensive is it to get fixed. also is there a way i can check if it is the speaker itself. i'll like to keep the receiver and not have to go out and buy a new one.

Test the speaker by switching the speaker with a different one (you could swap your two rear surrounds).
I would also test the speaker cables, and any other wiring that is involved (also by swapping it out).

You might want to use test tones from Avia, or even the THX set up sounds from a disc such as the Star Wars series to do this to ensure that there is information in that channel when your conducting your tests.

I would also try a second source, to make sure it's not your dvd player.

Chances are, it's a speaker connection problem. Switch leads on the rear of the receiver for left and right surrounds or switch speakers left to right if that is easier. This is not a difficult one to analyze.
