I'm looking for some good Bebop up style jazz. It kinda has a rock beat, fast, loud, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. THe intro song from Cowboy Bebop is a great example of what I'm talking about. I'd also like a recomendation for some mello, slow laid back jazz. Most of the time it's only 1 instrument. It's not necessarily sensuial, but just slow and melencohly (spelling?). My favorite instrument for this kinda jazz is saxophone, as it's the instrument I play. Lay the recomendations on!

....Brecker Brothers' HEAVY METAL BEBOP is a bitchin' album. Try Zappa too...HOT RATS would be a nice starter. Jean Luc Ponty is some nice fusion as is Brand X, Bill Bruford, Return To Forever.

Sax possibilities...Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane's BALLADS, Grover Washington, ...my mind has gone blank...the end!:)

I would recomend Coltrane or Sonny Rollins as good introductions to jazz. Particularly A Love Supreme by Coltrane. If you like Jazz guitar you have to check out Charlie Hunter, Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt, and Wes Montgomery. Also some other people to check out:

Charles Mingus
Theolonius Monk
Eric Dolphy
Ornette Coleman
Charlie Parker

the type of jazz to check out would be Bebop, Hard bop (full name Hard Post Bebop Regression), modal, and free jazz
