I have a question regarding the setup of my reciever. I am unsure of the best way to set levels. Would it be better to adjust the gain down so that the highest gain is at 0db and the others are at negative values or leave the lowest level speaker at 0db and raise the other levels? Also, I have long runs of wire for my rear surrounds (50ft of 12 gauge)all front speakers have 20 ft runs. Should I be compensating for the long wire runs in the delay?

If you are using Avia and an SPL meter, set up your receiver so that you read 85dB at the seated position with your receiver showing 00. You usually want to keep your individual gain settings below 0 if possible. The length of time it takes an electron to travel 50 ft as opposed to say 10 ft is not worth worring about. Set your speakers up using the distance from the seated position to the front of the speakers.
