I had a question to pose to the group in regards to 5.1 setups and 7.1 setups. I going to creating a home theater space down in my basement and was wondering if I should in with my existing 5.1 setup or go to a 7.1 setup. The room is approximately 17' X 11' X 7.5', I have talked to a few people but was wondering what you all thought.

I would at least wire for a 6.1 setup or maybe an 8.1 setup. Then you'd be ready for just about anything.

Personally I run an 8.1 setup with a Yam RX-V1 and really like the depth and wide imaging of the extra 2 front effect speakers. IMHO they added as much to the overall quality of most movie sound as the rear center channel.
