The voice can be a big deal, I agree...although I don't think I'd stop myself from buying a game because of it.
That reminds me, I just saw this ad for Devil May Cry 2 & I thought to myself "Self...this game looks pretty cool." Then, at the end of the commercial the main character of the game spoke...and sounded like a complete wimp! It really turned me off from the game as quick as that! So, I see where you're coming from on the voice issue...
