can anyone point me to a good article on what to do with the SPL meter once I get one? I want to do a sound calibration on my system too!!

am I close in the thinking that if I tell my receiver to send a test tone..and make sure the level on the meter is the same from all directions (assuming the meter is in the sweet spot)??

thanks for any information!

Yeah, I missed the sale too ..
But I decided it was still worth it @ 40bux .. so, now I'm hooked up with my spl meter and ready to rock!
Thanks for the heads up, just wish I had gotten there sooner!! :)

Jason, the test tone on your receiver is actually pretty far off.

You need to purchase the sound & vision, avia or video essentials dvd to do a proper test.

Run a search on the forums here for more details.

There is also a chart showing the bass rolloff of the meter.

You need to actually turn your sub up above what the meter is actually telling you b/c it doesn't pick up LF very well.

Just run a search. There is wealth of info on this board regarding this.
