I currently have a 256 mb stick of pc2700(ddr333) and was just given a 256 mb stick of pc2100(ddr266). My question is what will yeild more performance. the 256 mb of ram running at 333 mhz or 512 mb of ram running at 266. I use my computer mostly for games. I'm guessing the 512 at 266 but I could be wrong.

512 if they are compatible with each other and if the MOBO like both of em.

333 or 266, the perceived speed difference is (I would wager) zero, as long as the CPU speed doesn't alter.

I'd definitely rather go with the 512MB option. Anything that keeps programs well supplied with memory and keeps disk accesses to a minimum will speed things up.

More than likely, the 512 at 266 will be better. But, if you really want to be picky, track your Memory usage while playing a game and see if it's using any virtual memory. If not, 256 is enough for what you are doing, and the 333 would be better. However, my money is still on 512.
