A friend of mine just bought a Philips 55PPxyzz. I came over and helped him calibrate (he is color blind) with Avia and we noticed something odd.

It seems that there is only ONE of the three component inputs that will take a progressive signal. This seems kinda dumb, or maybe we didn't have some setting quite right.

Has anyone figured this out?

Thanks,

Brian G.

It is still common for a TV to have just one progressive scan input and a separate component video input for interlaced video.
Some readers of this forum have reported good results with a manual pushbutton AUDIO/video switch box to use up to four sources with a single progressive scan input on the TV. Radio Shack sells them for about USD 30. Connect the Y cable to the yellow jacks, the Pr cable to the red jacks, the Pb cable to the white jacks on the box.
Better switch boxes can be had for about USD 100. although I don't know where to purchase them.
