Posted this in Audio/Video section, but got no replies so here goes:

Within the last few months I have noticed that after watching a DVD with my receiver selected to the DVD input, connected by coaxial digital cable for the audio, then switching to the Video 1 input to watch satellite, the receiver will not switch to the audio for Video 1, which is connected to my Sat receiver by optical digital, until the DVD player is turned off. This is very strange because the video switches no problem, but you get no sound until the DVD player is turned off. I couldn't figure it out and then my kids (9 & 7) told me I had to turn off the DVD player to get it to work and sure enough they were right. Anyone ever hear of or experience this? Is there a simple solution or should we just live with it? Receiver is well out of warranty. Thanks.
Appreciate the help.

Dave,

An strange problem indeed. I would recommend making sure the you have assigned your digital inputs correctly. If it is correct, perhaps toggeling with the A/D (analog/digital) button can help do the trick to switch to your satellites input with the DVD player on. Maybe assigning a new Optical input to the satellite (video 1) can help also.

If the dvd is locking on to that specific Digital Coax input while switching to video one, try changing it to a different Coax input and changing the dvd assignment to the new input.

Good Luck!
