just upgraded my a/v from the Sony 333ES to the Integra 7.2..Mainly for the better dacs and especially for Pro Logic II.Logic II sounds great on dolby 2.0 movies and alot of other stuff, but at least 40 percent of t.v. has distortion in the surrounds..it sounds like the center channel vocal distorting into the surrounds, because its whenever theres vocal.Ihave dish network 501PVRbox with the optical out..so i,m getting good sound..PLII sounds great on vhs,cd,s,it,s just certain programming...WHY....also i have bose double cube accoustimas 15 speakers..

TV stereo signals are frequently very poor quality. The PL2 processing just makes distortion more noticeable, but it's there to begin with.

Distortion on television broadcasts (analog) in the
surrounds is no surprise. I have the TV signal running
through my Sony TA-E9000ES and the sound in the surrounds
is often terrible. You REALLY want to hear it, turn off
the amps for the centre and fronts and then listen.
It isn't Pro-Logic's or Pro-Logic II's fault, it's the
broadcasters and the cable companies. Surely people have
noticed radical differences in the sound from different
channels? There is no standardization at all.
Analog transmission just stinks. It's like trying to
listen to FM radio after listening to CDs.

Yep, I have DirecTV and I hear lots of distortion too in the surrounds with DPL II and more so with Circle Surround. As Richard has pointed out though, it can vary greatly depending on the channel. I've found that DPL II works best for movies on HBO and Showtime that are broadcast in DD 2.0.
