Please help me find a good LCD Flatscreen Monitor (1 Viewer)

Please help me here as I've not bought a computer for > 5 years.

A few weeks ago, I jumped at a great deal on a new desktop computer (Dimension 4300) for home from Dell. It just arrived ... but without the monitor, which appears to be backordered.

I've wanted a flat LCD monitor (15") for a while, and I was able to include a NEC Multisync with my order for $368. Now I don't know when I'll get it and I dont want to wait any longer.

Here's my questions:

When it comes to LCD monitors ... who makes the better ones?

Whick manufacturers should I avoid?

What does everyone/anyone think about ViewSonic?

Who are the better e-tailers for monitors.

Any other advice?

I'm going to order one today and pay for 2-day shipping. I've really been frustrated with Dell.

Go to Tom's Hardware Guide. They just did a big review on LCD displays.

I found what I wanted the other night. Bought the Viewsonic VA550 at CompUSA for $390 (after $100 rebate). Nice unit ... VERY sharp, bright, no dead pixels, and a great brushed platimum color.

The best part was the mathing cordless keyboard & mouse for $50 with monitor purchase. I'm a happy camper and my home office is very cool looking now.
