Pioneer DV-59AVi not region free? (1 Viewer)

Hello All- I just finished hooking up my new Pio 59AVi and popped in my copy of Old Boy to get the message back "this disc is not designed to work in this region". I was almost 100% certain that this player was code free / region free. In fact, if you look the player up, it's a feature that's widely touted by the retailers. Am I missing something? Is there a code that needs to be entered? Any help appreciated.

Everything I have read suggests that it needs to be modified for region-free.

Thanks for the reply. I'm rapidly coming to the same conclusion. I can not find anything (after (literally) hours of searching of what needs to be done to modify the elite models. I'll keep searching...

and ... to answer my own question -- it can only be modified by uploading some firmware through the service port.
