A lot of people have been waiting on this title. I'll probably not buy it unless it's an improvement over the Imprint BD release. I doubt it because I think it's derived from the same 4K restoration and has the exact same bonus material. I'll wait on reviews to be sure.

I always figured that the Imprint masters came from Paramount and that they would remain unchanged if and when the studio released them on their own.

I also never rushed to buy any Imprint release knowing that a domestic release could be around the corner.

It doesn't convey any of the atmosphere of the film. I didn't bother with the Imprint since it was inevitable that Paramount (or Criterion) would release it here. And I LOVE the artwork! It would have been so easy to give us a tacky "big heads" shot of Clift and Taylor! The artwork looks more like a book jacket and I'm down with that.

Director Robert Altman’s seminal film NASHVILLE remains an essential classic of 70s cinema with its complexly textured portrayal and critique of America’s obsession with celebrity and power. Newly remastered from a 4K scan of original elements, the film is presented on Blu-ray with a new featurette entitled “24 Tracks: Robert Altman’s Nashville.” The disc also includes a previously released commentary by Altman.



Fittingly, NASHVILLE is Volume 24 of the Paramount Presents line as the film follows 24 distinct characters with intersecting storylines over five days in the titular city. Glad to see A Place In The Sun make it to BD in NA, been waiting a long time for this...can now check off one from my "Wish List"!

Without the title, for all we know, it could have been The Prince of Tides!

Agreed The Viavision image leaves a lot to be desired but the has the better cover and at least I don’t have wait for all the usual Paramount drek/nonsense to get to the movie every time I load it. It’s already ruined the experience w Ten Commandments and My Fair Lady discs.
Like why shouldn’t the discs default to the film’s native language especially when buying it in the USA? Utter stupidity.

I was hoping for a Criterion version eventually too cause they usually get it right image wise. Oh well someday.
