Since I posted a thread about PD TV Collections with Watermarks, thought I'd do the same for PD Feature Collections? Who's watermarking their release - you know, the 50-100-150 feature collections from outfits like Mill Creek, etc. We all know Alpha has been waternarking their stuff with their "Star and Flag" logo for years now (At least it's not too bad) but I was wondering about the other budget releases. The Genere collections and stuff. We already know quality varies (and anyone who wants to chime in about quality as well can do so.)

Platinum Disc Corporation was putting logo bugs on some of their titles, but as player-generated subtitle graphics and not on the actual video. Turning the subtitles off doesn't make them go away, but with my Oppo player I can lower them til they're off the screen completely. Don't know what they were thinking when they did that.

Not PD but Something Weird Video often watermarked all the trailers on their discs. I have two drive-in discs without watermarks which are great, but after buying another one with watermarks on all the trailers I dtopped buying their titles.

Sounds like forced subtitles.

Some legitimate films appear to have something like this happening, such as Star Wars in the Greedo scenes talking to Han Solo. When I watched computer rips of my Star Wars dvd discs, the forced subtitles during the Greedo scenes were absent unless you turned on subtitles on the video player (such as vlc).
