That's disappointing, maybe now del Toro can work on Hellboy 3. I've read that Perlman wants to do it and del Toro has a story idea.

It's another case of convincing the studio to financially support another film. The Hellboy series hasn't really been that successful, either. I'm sure del Toro and Perlman would love to do another HB, but they need to convince a studio to pony up the cash.

you know I liked Pac. Rim. Yeah its got some moments that irritated me. BUT it was good and had some terrific set pieces. Kind of had a Starship Troopers feel but without the soft porn and bad acting.

Maybe it can get re-visited

True but I was hoping Home Video sales would be strong enough to warrant a reconsideration. I'm still holding out for a Sky Captain sequel. Anyways, I wouldn't mind revisiting the Pacific Rim universe.

Looks like there's new life in PR2, though without Del Toro as director (assume he'll have a producing credit of some sort). New director is Steven DeKnight (Netflix's "Daredevil") and newly cast lead is John Boyega ("Star Wars: TFA") who reportedly plays the son of Idris Elba's character from the first film.

It's disappointing that Del Toro won't be directing but I'll still give the sequel a shot. I like Boyega as an actor and the concept of this series.

I dunno. Adding Boyega to the cast when he's fresh off of The Force Awakens seems like a pretty assured move. Also, I'd think that with all of that Star Wars clout to consider, Boyega and his agent would be very careful about which projects they hitch their wagon to. Chances are much higher now that it will see the light of day IMO.

The Drift was a fundamental plot device that drove the narrative of the original film. One could even say that it was the emotional core of Pacific Rim. If they've thrown that out the window and the newer Jaegers can be operated by a single human being, it's going to do away with one of the more interesting aspects of the story IMO.

I do agree with you... It was what drew you to the characters, made you excited for their victories... Since this is just a sneak peek I'm hoping the Drift is still required.
