Outlaw 976 still shows PCM even with DSD feed (1 Viewer)

Anyone here knows my concern? I have Oppo UDP 203 connected to Outlaw 976 prepro via 7.1 analog as 976 HDMI can’t seem to process DSD (SACD feed format) - audio muted which is what Oppo mentioned in its manual. Now 976 still shows PCM even with the DSD feed. I thought when fed through 7.1 RCA, no conversion hapens on 976. Even when I press surround mode and select ‘direct’ ( the only other choice on this connection is ‘PCM’), PCM display stays. What’s goin on here. Outlaw cutomer service never reaponded to my emails (lots of follow up and nothing). They only respond when you’re buying. After you bought stuff, they ignore your emails (contrary to what they stated on their site).

7.1 output is analog, so it’s no longer DSD because the Oppo converted it from DSD to analog, and there’s no way for the 976 to know it ever was DSD, which it can’t process anyway.

The Oppo can still convert DSD to PCM, which might be why the 976 is showing PCM on it's display, but it's display will NEVER say DSD, because it can't accept a DSD signal.

Thank you, John. That’s what I thought. In oppo it shows PCM if it converts to PCM. I set it up for SACD to be DSD always as ‘auto’ almost always favor PCM. With forcing it to DSD, oppo shows DSD all the time. 976 displays PCM even for analog stereo. I suppose that’s its default display. Thank you.
