OK!I hope I am posting this in the correct forum!

I have narrowed down my choice of "entry level" HTIB systems. Now, I would like a professional opnion. Thanks for all who respond!

I was originally looking closely at the Onkyo HT-S870. I liked what it had to offer considering the price and performance.

After further research I am not so sure now! The Onkyo HT-S770 seems to very similar except for the THX Select Cert. Which is better?! The S770 is much cheaper and seems to be a better buy! Is this true? What am I really getting with the THX Select Cert.

Thanks a bunch for all of your professional opinions!!

Honestly, I'd save my money and get the 770. THX certification doesn't mean isn't a better product...it's just certified to meet standards.

Really, the 770 is a great buy for what you get. Circuit City actually had it on sale for around $430 (regular $600), which is obviously a good deal. Unless you're parting together you own compenent system, the 770 is an awesome deal for a HTIB.

Thanks Eric,
Yea, I read these threads about a week ago while I was searching for info. I just wanted to post something new to get "fresh new eyes" and maybe some new info regarding these systems. Thanks

There's nothing left new to say after the work we did in that last thread. ;)

FWIW, vanns.com and B&Hphoro.com two authorized Onkyo online dealers, have really been getting nice and aggressive with prices.

You might be able to score either the 770 or 870 for a hell of a price.
