I was at Borders earlier this evening, and I happened to notice an Ani DiFranco CD (So Much Shouting, So Much Laughter...or something like that). Having heard many positive things about her, I decided to scan it and listen for a bit. I really enjoyed what I heard and would like to delve deeper into her music. Before I rush out and buy anything, I'd like to know what's a good place to start? What CD would you all recommend first? Thanks a bunch!

"Dilate" & "Not A Pretty Girl" for a studio CD's. Wonderful stuff.

And then check out "Living In Clip" to experience some of her best live stuff. I've seen Ani at least 3 times, and her live performances are pretty incredible.

I wholeheartedly agree that Dilate and Not a Pretty Girl are her peak, along with Out of Range. I'd start with Out of Range, in fact, then got to NaPG and Dilate. Her recent stuff is more hit and miss for me, though. It's kind of sad when you can tell a relatively recent artist has hit their peak.

What Al said. All three are good starting points - in fact, that's the exact order I started with too. I'm not as keen on her recent stuff either, has to be said.
