Need Help with Getting a Tivo (1 Viewer)

I really love the idea of what tivo can do, I have Time Warner Digital Cable and no DirecTV, can I still use this? Do I need to subscribe to the service? or what... I'm totally in the blind about these, and this is the first place I figured I'd ask.

Sure, just buy a standalone (not the Directv combo). It will change the channels on your cable box if you use one. You'll need to subscribe to the service which is $10/mo or $250 for as long as you have the box.
