I have the DirecTV Tivo High Definition unit.

Very expensive -- supposed to be one of the best.

I noticed that the few times I watch my shows
on it, I get occasional stuttering in the audio.

Happens for a few seconds, then stops. A bit later
it may stutter a little more.

Now....this may be impossible to answer because I
don't watch LIVE TV to really compare....

Is the stuttering audio more inclined to be a result
of the signal coming in or perhaps a defect on the
hard drive?

Thought perhaps someone might have an idea.

I sometimes get the same thing on my Scientific Atlanta DVR from Adelphia cable, and it does happen on live broadcasts. (As does picture break-up and other problems akin to rain fade on satellite. The local PBS affiliate's HD signal seems to be the worst offender.) I suspect this is more a problem with the source signal than with your DVR.

Regards,

Joe

(Who really wishes that TiVo made a stand-alone HD unit)
