I believe Treasure Island is widescreen, but Christmas Carol is not.

I'm praying for a Japanese release, those will be OAR.

Haven't seen any advertisements yet here in Japan. Honey, I Shrunk the Kids is 16x9, but Honey, I Blew Up the Kid is 4:3. Those are both Disney. We can only hope.

The DVD "Die Muppets-Weihnachtsgeschichte" is the widescreen version.
Gute news. the german edition is definitely W I D E S C R E E N. received an email from amazon.de with the above confirmation. release date is around 21 november, i.e. NOW!!!
unsure whether 16x9+, but even if not, this surely has to be better than the pan & slice slop that got served up to the rest of the world.
ich mag Deutschland!!!!!

The UK version of A Muppet Christmas Carol is anamorphic widescreen:
How odd. The copy I saw in MVC the other day said "Full Frame 4:3" on the back, and had the running time at 82 mins (which would make it the shorter version).

A German poster in the UK based DVDForums is reporting that the German disc is 4:3 dispite being promoted as widescreen in pre-release press releases.
Be very careful anyone ordering from Germany.
Edited to include that posts content:
the german DVD is not widescreen. But it's correct that is was announced in widescreen.
I'm from germany and my last hope for the film was the UK DVD.
I still hope that BV will release a widescreen version of this cool christmas movie... maybe next year...

Contrary to the review on the BBC website, where the reviewer clearly did NOT review the DVD, the R2 UK version is indeed 4:3 pan and scan and looks bloody ordinary to boot.
