Rex Ingram was one of the most respected film artists of the Silent Era admired by both D. W. Griffith and Erich von Stroheim. His work should be far better known and appreciated today than it is and his visually striking films should be made available on DVD as soon as possible.

After being taken off of BEN-HUR, he relocated to France and made some of his finest work with his wife/muse, Alice Terry. Of course, he should also be credited with making a star of both Rudolph Valentino and Ramon Navarro and his influence on James Whale and Michael Powell only serves to indicate how good his films really are.
