How does the Mediamatics Pantera 2 NDV8501B2 Chip compare to the Sage/Faroudja chip?
I am looking at the Panny DVD-RP56 region 1 which uses the Sage/Faroudja chip around $210 online.
and
looking the Malata DVD-n996 region free which uses the Mediamatics Pantera 2 NDV8501B2 Chip. $289.00
which would you buy and why?

Mikey,
The short answer, is it doesn't.
For perfectly flagged film-based material, the Pantera 2 does well enough.
Most concerts (HFO, Steely Dan etc) are shot in 30fps video mode, and DCDI really cleans up the jaggies on this material. Nothing else comes close.
