I read on the Digital Bits that Lord of the Rings soundtrack was supposed to arrive on DVD-A, but I didn't find any other information. Anybody got some info about this?

According to the list at the Quad Forum, it is only given a date of "1st Quarter 2004", and is to be a hybrid CD/DVD-A.

Very interesting indeed.

Where on music tap do you see this info? Am I blind?
It's in their Oct. 8 post. Here's the exact information they have listed:

DVD-Audio takes a move to the new year for a few titles. The titles affected are:

T-Rex - Electric Warrior - January 13
Brian Wilson - Live at the Roxy - January 13
Fleetwood Mac (both titles) - February 3
Frank Sinatra - September of my Years and F.A.S & A.C.J. - Feb 3
B-52s - Cosmic Thing - February 10
David Crosby - February 10
Graham Nash - February 10
Lord of the Rings - CD/DVD Hybrid - 1st Qtr-2004

Fear not, they will arrive. There's still plenty in the upcoming months to keep us happy.

It's merely a mention but it is the only place I've read about such a release. ;)

Would this then be the complete scores of the three films? Or merely the regular 3 soundtracks on 1 disc?

John I am about to join WSR website (subscribe) and I would like to know if all WSR reviews are in PDF format on the site?

Thank you :)

I'll be holding off to get this version of the soundtrack(s).

If anything I'd love to have "Into the West" in 5.1

Jesper,

They only show back issues content through Issue 26. At about Issue 50, the PDF downloadable articles appear. We just released Issue 80, January 2004, which means you can go back > 2 years on downloadable articles.

I can't comment on anything earlier than 26, because I don't have hard copy to check for a particular review :)

Thanks for subscribing :D

Cheers,

John I have all WSR (hard copy) from issue 1 to (I think 50) so it's great about the online .pdf reviews! :D

I know! I've put off buying anyone of the three soundtracks for this very reason. Who is issuing the dvd-a versions? Maybe we can get someone on the phone.

The soundtracks are issued by Reprise, which would make sense since all of the titles in the list above (I believe) are Warner/Reprise titles. Also note that most if not all of the ones with dates have already been postponed. Because of that, I imagine the nebulous "1st quarter 2004" has been slipped to farther out.
