Looking At brand new DVD player. Its time to upgrade me old Sony 7700. Rotel will allow me to play multiregion DVD's, Denon I think is the best on the market and Pioneer is also good. I don't know much about any of those DVD's, So thats y I came to you for help.
Need good advice.

If you want DVD-A and SACD the Denon 2900 is hard to beat. But if you are only looking for DVD playback there migth be better.

95% of my usage of DVD player will be for movies. 5% will be for sound.
I have no usage for SACD, but DVD Audio a maybe.
I guess the best picture I'm after and the rest would be a bonus.
Thank you all

Given that ratio then try and find a Denon 1600 or 2200 and save yourself some money. The 2900 excels at audio but the video performance between them is very close indeed from all accounts.

I second Andrew's suggestion. I believe the video hardware of the 2900 and 2200 are identical. The 2200 can be had for almost half the price of a 2900.

The 2200 seems to be the rave and I have not seen any bad reviews, since you had a sony check out the 999ES it can be had at a good deal, the new Yamaha universal player has received seem particularly nice reviews.
