Thanks, Michael. I am resigned to the facts about LCD. Looking at all factors, LCD is the best for me. Does getting it professionally calibrated void warranties? With my current TV, when the "technician" (from the retailer) came to set it up, he wasn't the best there could have been.

Greetings

Here's the scoop on warranty coverage for a set like this ...

Version 1

You tell them that you had it ISF'd.
They void your warranty.
You spend next 4 months arguing with them on phone about why it has nothing to do with what is actually wrong with the TV.
They relent and perform warranty ...
4 months of anguish ... anxiety ...

TV fixed with 4 month delay.

Version 2

You volunteer nothing.
They fix your set.

TV fixed with no delay.

Well in both versions you end up with the same result ... how you proceed with this is up to you. I guess ISF does not void the warranty after all. :D

Regards

I was thinking that even though these "techs" may not be as good as ISF techs, would they be able to figure out or see if some work was done on the set anyway (without asking me)? Hence my warranty automatically gets voided.
