Anyone have any thoughts on the L5 Remote for the iPhone/iPad?

I read a handful of reviews on the RedEye, but they didn't seem favorable.
Goal is to use my iPad as my remote for my home theater, projector, screen, TV, DVD, receiver, etc.
Family is looking for gift suggestions for me.
