Anyone know if the THX adds anything besides price on the 6070 over the 6060? Is there an audible difference? Is it better in build quality? Need to know before I shell out the extra for the 6070.

I have the 6060. It is the same as the 6070 in terms of amplifiers used; it just doesn't have THX certification, which adds to the cost of the receiver. The only differences that I can tell are that the 6070 has THX crossovers for bass management; full pre outs; and an optical out. Other than that, they both seem to be the same. If those things aren't important to you, then you will probably be better off with the 6060. I just got the new Sound & Vision magazine and it has a review of the 6070. Aside from ergonomic issues, the 6070 put out 92 watts with all channels driven. That is a lot of power in the price range. Hope this helps.

the 6070 does make a big difference sonically. The addition of THX not only adds THX post processing but also enables the standard 80hz crossover in all modes so long is THX is enabled. With THX off, the standard 100hz crossover is enabled which would be the same and only crossover setting found on the 6060. Sonically this makes a huge difference if you have speakers other than the typical satellite speakers. My SVS 20-39 CS sounded lackluster at the 100hz setting as well. The 80hz crossover eliminated the thinness and hollowness to the sound, 100% improvement.

With reference to the crossover on the 6060, I was told by Kenwood technical support that it was fixed at 80hz.
