If it started filming at the end of September, that's a 5 1/2 month shoot.

You're right, but for ten episodes, 5 1/2 months seems generous. It must be very large-scale.

And Jon Favreau is also working on The Lion King, so I'm really curious how he handled time management on the two projects going back and forth and whatnot.

Also, I started this thread back before the show had a title. If a moderator would like to update the thread title to reflect the show's name, that's fine by me.

You can change the thread title yourself if you created it.

I changed the title, if you have tweaks please PM me and I will make it whatever you want.

Controversial thought: This might now need to be moved to the streaming sub forum. Thoughts on that?

No tweaks. That's fine. Thank you!

I wasn't sure when I started it whether it should go in the TV section or the streaming one. I think a case could be made for either one. If you want to move it, that's fine by me too.

Seriously it's not an either case scenario, there is no justification for any show to be moved into the Streaming section. It's the equivalent of moving a movie into the BluRay section. :)

ENTERTAINMENT is the section we talk about the content. The MEDIA section is a whole different thing. It's about the mode of delivery.

Lots of chatter the last few days about additional Star Wars shows for Disney+, including a young Princess Leia series, a Han Solo/ Lando series with Ehrenreich and Glover, and, most significantly, a 6-hour Obi-Wan series with Ewan McGregor (in place of a feature film). These series would have lower budgets than features and would help build Disney’s streaming service, which is turning into a powerhouse.

Do you have any sources for this?

including a young Princess Leia series

I think this would be in poor taste post-Carrie Fisher. I wouldn't want to see that. Plus, it didn't work with Han. Why do they think audiences would want to see young Leia when they didn't want to see young Han?

a Han Solo/ Lando series with Ehrenreich and Glover

Yeah right. They were contracted for multiple features, not a TV series. I'm pretty sure that Disney wouldn't be able to use a sequel option in the film contract to force them to do a TV show. And if this project were true, I can't see Glover committing to that. He already has Atlanta with FX (which will soon be under Disney's roof, but still), not to mention his music career and probably a bunch of other projects. I also seriously doubt that Lucasfilm wants to return to the corner of the Star Wars universe that produced its first bomb. This seems like wishful thinking to me.

and, most significantly, a 6-hour Obi-Wan series with Ewan McGregor (in place of a feature film).

There have been so many rumors about Ewan doing this role again that haven't panned out that at this point, I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm inclined to agree with you but Disney has definitely gone with the more familiar in terms of Star Wars (even if Boba Fett doesn't appear, The Mandolorian is essentially a Boba Fett TV show) so even with the financial loss of Solo, I think they may feel that a Han TV series could be a safer bet than trying to get into a new area of the Star Wars universe.

I hope and pray that an Obi-Wan "mini-series" happens because it'd be even more Obi-Wan Ewan than a movie would give me.

Here's a piece about the Obi-Wan series:

https://screenrant.com/star-wars-obi-wan-tv-show-disney-plus/

This is the source of that news, where the writers claim to have been told an Obi-Wan series is a priority for the streaming service.

https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/201...-to-be-made-for-disney-streaming-service.html

The Leia series news comes from HN Entertainment, which I am not familiar with, but they claim to have knowledge of a few ideas for SW shows, including Captain Phasma, the Knights of Ren, Rose Tico and Leia. This one sounds like someone brainstorming ideas:

https://hnentertainment.co/exclusiv...-wars-series-disney-lucasfilm-is-considering/

The Lando/Solo thing sounds more like a Lando spinoff, and a possible Qi'Ra series is also mentioned. Seems I misread the part about Ehrenreich (sorry!):
https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/qira-lando-tv-shows-planned-disney-plus/

This source usually aggregates news from other sources, but in this case, claims to have a source of their own.

Another report: https://www.fanthatracks.com/news/f...a-and-lando-calrissian-live-action-tv-series/

My analysis of all this is that is seems like they're cooking up more Star Wars shows for Disney+ (no surprise there). And it sounds like the talk of it got around to some sources. The most credible one is the Obi-Wan rumor, IMO.

I'd rather have the feature film, to be honest. But I guess we'll see whether McGregor signs on, and whether they have a six-hour story worth telling.

It sounds like bullshit. But the only Princess Leia series I'd be interested in is a coming of age story with her as a kid on Alderaan -- young enough that I'm not constantly aware that she's a different person than Carrie Fisher circa A New Hope. They'd have to get Jimmy Smits back as Bail Organa, too.

The Lando/Solo thing sounds more like a Lando spinoff, and a possible Qi'Ra series is also mentioned. Seems I misread the part about Ehrenreich (sorry!):

The problem with a Qi'Ra story is that she's adjacent to some really prominent characters we'd be constantly expecting to show up.

It still seems like "The Mandalorian" approach is the best; steer clear of the feature films entirely and tell a completely original story in a corner of the Star Wars galaxy we haven't seen before.
