Silence of the Lambs in a rather difficult vote. North is indeed a truly wonderful film, but Silence is one of the first films I ever saw that really "wowed" me. I had always been into movies, but up until this film (and a few others I discovered around the same time) I never really thought a lot about them. If they were good for a laugh or scare or what have you, then they made the grade in my book. This is one of those films that made me start looking for more in my entertainment.
Although the occasional severed head and flash of breast still go a long way towards greatness.
