$1,284 @ Wal*Mart (god forbid - WAL*MART!!!)

What do you think? I mean, I know it isn't PERFECT, but with a good DVD player and all, would this be nice to crash in front of and watch Lord or the Rings or the like?

$1,300 for a TV like this (it's not a Apex, it's 16:9, it's HD, etc.) seems like a good deal. I could get 10% off it, so $1,250 AFTER tax.

Kenneth,
I have the Panasonic PT-47WX53, which is quite similiar to the model Wal Mart carries, and I'm very happy with it. Once you set the convergence properly and use a tuneup disc like Avia or Video Essentials, it yields a very satisfying picture.

Tempting,

but I'm still going to wait until the good stuff comes down to $1000...

I bet a year from now you'll be able to buy a 50" LCD
thin wall hanging set for $1000 (I hope).

Right now, I'm willing to watch my 27" 'unflat', 'unhanging on the wall', 'un HD', TV.
