Actually, I was more impressed with how coherent it was considering the film's reputation of being ultimately taken away from Welles' final cut approval while he was away on his ill-fated Brazilian assignment. The only sequence that didn't gel very well was the last scene or two of the film. Those seemed like they were added at the last minute without Welles approval, but those scenes are nonetheless serviceable.
