I think it's quite obvious that that wasn't what I was referring to. (But yes, the thing you mention is pretty lame.)

I couldn't understand, after the movie was over, why all those talented actors like Julianne Moore and director Joseph Ruben even bothered making it. It's not a BAD movie, but it's so utterly mediocre -- like a subpar "X Files" episode -- that I'm not even sure I'd bother recommending it as a rental. There was barely any story development (it's only 90 minutes long) and the whole movie is basically one long chase sequence with an ending that wasn't worth the effort to get there.

No originality, no surprises, nothing -- and what was with the Anthony Edwards character, who is basically forgotten himself (no pun intended), and the supposedly romantic relationship between Moore and the other father? I didn't get where any of that was going (one reason it was excised, I assume)...nothing was developed in the script at all.

I'm guessing he owed somebody a favor. His character sure didn't have much to do.
