IE Status Bar (1 Viewer)

for some reason my computer at work won't show the status bar when i open a new IE window. It's rather annoying. is there any way to change the default so that the status bar defaults to on?

Goto View and check off Status bar (just click on the words and it will place a check mark beside it toggeling on the status bar)

i've tried this but even after it's enabled if i open a new window the status bar is off.

it's just my computer at work but it's still annoying.
