A friend of mine just bought a new house and has a small room next to his HT area (2nd room size is 8x8x20) Would this room be large enough for an IB system. Say something like 2-4 Dayton IB385-8 15" s or equivelent. He is a bass nut and Im trying to think of ways to get the most out of his setup. The HT room has an open stairway to the upstairs so its a lot of volume. I think IB would be a way to get the bass he wants for under 1K.

That would be acceptable for 4 of the Dayton IB's. Get 4 of those, a Nady XA900 amp and a BFD and he would be in bass paradise. Also dont worry about the open stairway. I also have an open stairway in my HT room and there is still more output on tap then I could use. My IB consists of 2 BP1804 drivers that have about the same displacement capability as 4 of the Dayton IB's so you could expect simular results.
