Hello,

We have been using an A/V setup in the home we bought a few years ago, and it has worked fine. However, I think the receiver is on the fritz, and I’m considering what I should do now.

I’ve attached a diagram of the setup.
I’m wondering what options I have. The obvious is simply replacing the receiver; however, the current receiver is maybe 10 years old, so I’d be getting a lot of new capabilities with a new one. That leads me to wonder...

The MZC setup works fine, but I’m trying to understand:
  • Is there a way to control the speakers in other rooms 2-4 wirelessly?
  • Is there a receiver that will handle the primary room 5.1 and then the other three rooms? (Which are all two channel, with speakers hardwired from the MZC unit and controlled by keypads) (also: presumably this would also answer the first question, if so)
  • Can I do that without replacing all the speakers?
Interested in ideas / feedback.
Thanks!
Jeff

If helpful:
- The current receiver is (was :) ) a Sony DA3600ES
- The ceiling speakers are all Speakercraft CRS ASM86630 6"
- The main room surround 5.1 includes the two Speakercraft, three Bay Audio (front L, C, R), and one subwoofer (not sure of the make / model as I haven't pulled it out to look)
