Let's get cracking on the voting. I finally got off my lazy ass for a change. Well, not really lazy, more of a "I've got to study for a big test coming up in April". Basically, it works like this:
Each person gets to submit their top ten games from the master list. The games are sorted by the system they were released for. Games that crossed platforms will have their own subheading, unless I have overlooked games which fit this genre. Games in which I had no clue what system they belong to have their own subheading as well (a little help from the forum members would be nice). Each first place vote gets 10 points, each 2nd place vote gets 9, and so on. Each person may submit only one top ten list. Please notify somebody (me hopefully :D ) if you wish to change your mind about your games. If I've omitted any of the nominated games from the other list, please tell me.
Here's the list

All, right, my votes:

1. Grand Theft Auto III-PS2

2. Halo-X-Box

3. Legend Of Zelda-Ocarina Of Time-N64

4. Goldeneye 007-N64

5. NBA JAM-Genesis

6. Asteroids-Atari

7. Virtua Cop II-Saturn

8. Shenmue-Dreamcast

9. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2-Dreamcast

10. NFL 2k1-Dreamcast

I know it's centered around newer games, but I think we're in the "golden age".

My problem is is I just can't come up with a title that deserves "greatest game ever".

First quick fix - I may wish that Radiant Silvergun was a Dreamcast title, but life's not that fair. If I ever get to play that game, it will either be on a Saturn or an arcade machine.

Secondly, DDR is, I believe, multiplatform, but someone might be able to correct me on that. Certainly however, Tempest 3000 is only on the NUON. If I said I'd rather buy a NUON than a Saturn, and that Tempest 3000 is the only game worth buying on it, you'd get an idea of the size of my longing for the thing.

Anyway, on with my list:

1) Super Mario 64 (console perfection in my eyes)

2) Asteroids (a stunning balance between risk and reward that has never been equalled)

3) Crazy Taxi (almost endlessly replayable, even for 10 minutes at a time)

4) Goldeneye 007 (in which the fps finally stopped imitating Doom)

5) Grand Theft Auto (a working city and a level of immersion that deserves more comparison with Elite than Driver in my eyes)

6) Super Mario 3 (still stands for 2d platforming the way 64 does for 3d)

7) Mr. Driller (can't get enough of this seemingly simple puzzler that just dares you to make life difficult)

8) Sonic The Hedgehog (demonstrates to learn from Miyamoto, not just copy him)

9) Vib Ribbon (a precursor to the mighty Rez in sonic gameplay synergy)

10) Soul Calibur (its difficult to get excited about beat-em-ups, but the variety of fighting styles, all intuitive, make this a winner)

4) Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The (N64) (notice the Zelda theme developing)
5) Max Payne (X-BOX) (fun to the nth degree)
5) Resident Evil (PSX) (benchmark for game horror)
6) Resident Evil 2 (PSX)
7) Super Mario 64 (N64)
8) Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) (though I prefer SM2)
9) Legend Of Zelda (NES)

Camp there was a long running thread that Dome started so we could nominate all the games that would appear on the master list. Did you post your nominations on that thread??

Don't know if you missed that thread or not.

Thanks, Romier. I guess I missed that one. Oh, well there's still some good games here (just missing a lot of my favs).
BTW, if Halo wins I'm gonna puke. :)

Does anybody have a problem with the cutoff date being the last day of March?

I hate these list things, because somedays I feel diferent and wouldn't thing of putting something in my list but would other days, oh well so this is "Kelley's list of top ten that he is feeling on 1.29.2002"
Mr. Kelly, you're doing exactly what I hoped you would do. If you happen to change your mind, you can change your list anytime before the last day of March.

I've seen games listed in some people's list that aren't on the master list. Sorry, but you can only pick games off the master list. We had an extremely liberal nomination process in another thread a long time ago. If you want to change your list, either edit your post, or just respond to this thread again.

Great, cause my list sucks! NBA Jam the best game ever? What was I thinking? I just hate to have a game released last year at the top.
