Glad to hear that the clipping of the commentary track w/ Gilliam and Chuck Roven (not Rowe, Jason) has been rectified.

I still think it's ridiculous that--if U is going to re-release this title and others that had separate DTS / DD releases originally (such as Apollo 13)--they are not putting DTS and DD on the same disc w/ all the original extras and more on the same release. So add my voice to those taking issue with this not being a 2-discer.

This title was announced in January by U for HD DVD this fall. Although they may not make that release time frame, this is yet another U SE re-release (The Thing and Casino are others) that I will probably hold off on. Absent all the supps and DTS being on one release, I'd rather earmark the money I'd spend on this for the probably $40 cost of the hopefully-imminent HD DVD release.

Think I'm going to have to just hold off on this since HD is coming up within a year or 2. Wish I would have known this was coming, though, or I wouldn't have paid 19.99 for a new copy of the old edition 8 months ago.

A question about your scoring system: In four catagories, you give two 4*'s, one 4 1/2* and a 5*, but a 3 1/2* overall? Somethings askew!

Thanks for the review.

Unless U engages in HD DVD release nonsense similar to what Warner too frequently did with DVD-A (announcing titles only to have the street date come and go with no discs hitting the shelves), I'd certainly like to think that the January CES announcement--even with the format "war"--means we'll see 12 Monkeys on HD DVD in less than 12 months.

Anyone know how much more commentary there is on the new version?

Also, is there any site with higher resolution screen comparisons than what's in the DVDTalk review?
