How to connect MacPro to HDTV & Receiver? (1 Viewer)

New here so hope this is the right place for my question.

I have MacPro with DVI output port and Optical digital audio input and output TOSLINK ports.

My HDTV is Sharp Aquos 46" and have a Yamaha AV Receiver RX-V361 with 2 optical audio inputs. The AV Receiver is 5.1 and I have 5.1 speaker system.

Both these equipments are in two different rooms adjacent to each other - distance approximately 12 feet.

I would like to connect my MacPro to HDTV for hi-def movies and connect my MacPro to AV Receiver for 5.1 surround sound.

What do I need to achieve this configuration?

I have a mac mini with a digital optical audio out and a dvi port. I used a cheapy dvi to hdmi cable and a 1/8" optical adaptor and plugged the hdmi to my samsung 50" and the optical out to my denon receiver.
