How is 720p -> 1080i quality on the new direct view Wega's for XBox Games (1 Viewer)

I am considering the 36" XBR and was wondering how the upconverted 720p -> 1080i quality is. I am particularly curious if anyone has played a 720p XBox game on a new Wega (NBA 2K3, Burnout, etc.)

Does the Wega really take a 720p input and upconvert it internally to 1080i?

I ask, as most consumer TV's do NOT. People are confused as they think their TV does upconversion, when it's actually the STB that does it! This is important, as the XBox doesn't do any upconversion of 720p to 1080i - meaning that most of us are SOL.

For instance, I have a Mitsubishi 55857 and it doesn't do 1080i. Since the Xbox won't do the upconversion, I'm stuck at 480p for those games.

The new Wega's can accept a 720p signal and they automatically upconvert to 1080i. This is only true on the direct view Wegas, as far as I know.

The new Sony RPTV's also convert to 1080i. Last year's RPTVs convert to 480p though.
