I'm new and this place is so amazing, I'd thought I better start a new thread!
How do you ask or get these movies re-released as Special or Collector's Editions? (Or even proper versions)
BATMAN (1989) - A 2-disc set with a new 16x9 transfer, 5.1 AND DTS (what IS it with Warner and DTS? Do they hate it?) sound, a Retrospective documentary, Audio commentary, set and costume design featurettes, Special effects featurettes, a featurette on the general film score and interviews with Prince and his music videos, deleted scenes with optional commentary, a look at the merchandising boom (!) around the movie and maybe Easter Eggs...
BATMAN RETURNS (1992) - (Michelle Pfeiffer is the REAL Catwoman ) Special features as above!
FACE/OFF (1997) - How about 5.1 AND DTS sound, Audio commentary, a new 16x9 transfer, a general making of, individual Stunt & Special effect featurettes, the set & costume design featurettes, deleted scenes with optional commentary, featurette on the film score, some Easter Eggs and hopefully a Profile of John Woo's style and technique of filiming...
POLTERGEIST 1 (1982) - A new 16x9 transfer, remixed 5.1 sound, Retrospective doc (if you want, you can mention the 'curse'), Audio commentary, Deleted scenes with audio commentary, Biographies and filmographies, Special effects and set design featurettes and Easter Eggs...? The same goes for POLTERGEIST 2 (1986) and 3 (1988)
CASINO (1995) - Long overdue for a 2-disc set, new 16x9 transfer, 5.1 (& maybe DTS?) sound, Retrospective doc, costume and set design, Soundtrack featurette, Documentary or interviews with the REAL gangsters (!), Audio commentary (if possible), Deleted scenes with audio commentary, Biographies and filmographies
GOODFELLAS: SE (1990) - I know this is coming... Does anyone have a Region 1 street date?
TRUE LIES (1994) - Ignoring the state of World politics, this is still a damn fine movie! You know I want a proper 2-disc set - movie on one, extras on the other!
I'm sure the "Governator" surely can take some time out of his 'hectic ' schedule to contribute... I'm talking Disc 1 - 5.1 EX and 6.1 DTS sound, new 16x9 transfer, Audio commentary. Disc 2 - a general making of, individual Stunt & Special effect featurettes, a general making of, individual Stunt & Special effect featurettes, the set & costume design featurettes, deleted scenes with optional commentary, featurette on the film score, some Easter Eggs, deleted scenes with optional commentary, a featurette on the film score & some Easter Eggs...
MALCOLM X (1992) - A magnificent movie like this deserves a 2-disc edition by now! Disc 1 - new 16x9 transfer, 5.1 sound, additional scenes (Director's Cut?). Disc 2 - An extensive Retrospective doc, a mini-doc on Malcolm X, one on the merchandising (!), deleted scenes with audio commentary, the sets and costume design featurettes...
And to cut things short, a few more...
LAST ACTION HERO (1993) - Very underrated... :frowning:
YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES (1985) - Paramount's vanilla DVD is rubbish! (And I BET Paramount hates DTS as well!) Even a featurette on the then-revolutionary Special effects (the plate-glass soldier was designed by a team led by John Lasseter before he joined Pixar!) would improve things!
TIMECOP (1994)
HARD TARGET (1993) - 2 Disc including John Woo's much bootlegged Director's Cut.
SUDDEN DEATH (1995)
AIRPLANE (1980) - Do it properly Paramount! Interview the cast and crew and find some deleted scenes!
ADVENTURES OF BARON MUCHAUSEN (1988) - Hilarious! Long overdue for an SE. Monty Python and the... Holy Grail, The Meaning Of Life and Life Of Brian all have SEs. So why can't this similar movie have one?
And just to be crazy...
HOWARD THE DUCK (1986) - Pan N Scan/WS, I don't care! 5.1 sound! I'd love it even more if Universal persuaded/bribed the Director to do an Audio commentary and offered Deleted scenes with Audio commentary OR the Uncut version of the movie.
BIGGLES: ADVENTURES IN TIME (1986) - A proper 16x9 transfer or at least a 1.78:1 trasnsfer and 5.1 sound in addition to the decent (Region 2 - Ha!) extras.
Whew! that was exhaustive! :star:
