Hoe offten you make DD5.1 or DTS 5.1 to matrix ? (1 Viewer)

If you have the AMP capable make a DD.5.1 and DTS 5.1 DVD to matrix 6.1 do u offten use it ? Or its just make a weird 6.1 matrix sound ??? need suggestion. THX guys

I leave it on all the time, haven't had a problem yet.

Reportedly if the normal surround channels both carry the exact same sound, very rare on 5.1 mixes, the surround information will all collapse into the rear center. I haven't encountered this yet.

Since I got a EX/ES receiver, I have had it on all the time. Sounds fine with no collapsing.

I only use it when the film is mixed in EX/ES, just in case.

I had one of the first really affordable ES/EX receivers (Pioneer VSX-D810S) and I had alot of collapsing problems w/ matrix over 5.1. It was like it was matrixing even when the side surrounds weren't the same and made the entire back sound stage very muddy. Since then the quality of my gear has moved up but due to room size constraints i've moved back to a 5.1 setup. I really don't miss 6.1/7.1 at all but will probably go back to it once I have the room to.
