I saw Salt of the Earth for the first time this semester for my Modern Latino Literature, and it's a great film.

Yep. That and the fact that the film was made entirely outside of Hollywood. Very interesting story. The Pioneer DVD is loaded with extras (mostly text-based) that really delve into the backstory.
