I'm researching the history of speaker technology for my history of american technology class. I was wondering if anyone knows of good books, papers, or websites with information on the subject.

My biggest problem right now is the early history, I have a decent grasp on the last couple of decades (which have seen incredible advancement), but i'm coming up a little short much past that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Andy

Thanks, that history of jbl and Altec was pretty interesting and i'll use a lot of the info.

I am still in need of more general info on the technology itself. I find it very hard to believe someone hasn't written a book about this stuff.

    Anyone else out there?

    Andy,
For what it is worth, I think I noticed a pretty detailed historical timeline, as it relates to audio, on the Denon website.(www.denon.com) Might be worth a look if you haven't already.
