Is it possible that a HDTV may have better scaling and upconverting than a upconverting player? I was told by a High-end audio/video installer that even an old player without progressive scan can possibly put out a better signal to a tv with superior scaling and upconverting, like a Runco plasma. Could this be true, because now I am have second thoughts about it.

Well that does answer some questions I have.

What about the Oppo players and the Denons with upconverters, how well do they stack up to integrated scalers, and/or outboard? Which tv's, plasmas in particular have good integrated scalers? What about the Plasmas with the external box that comes with the TV?

I know I have tons of questions here, I am just trying to suck up all the knowledge I can.
