HDMI 2.0 EARC VS HDMI 2.1 EARC (1 Viewer)

I have a STRDH790
It got an update receiving EARC, the specs list it as HDMI 2.0 or is actually 2.1?

With the purpose of HDMI 2.1 EARC being that it allows the audio to be uncompressed full quality with a 2.1 EARC TV

My question is, if it is HDMI 2.0 with EARC is the same? Or is it only partially compressed

To simplify, is an HDMI 2.0 EARC lower audio quality then HDMI 2.1 earc

Both with a TV with 2.1 earc features mind you

The real question is, why do you need that in the first place? Ideally you connect sources to the receiver, so ARC is a non-issue.

I use my computer with the TV and will be upgrading my gpu to an HDMI 2.1 gpu, likely the GTX 3080 or some other similar name

It matters because this reciever will not have features such as VRR etc as HDMI 2.1 will have


But this does not answer my initial question of:
HDMI 2.1 earc vs HDMI 2.0 earc, which is better or are they the same

Probably been answered elsewhere, but eARC allows for more audio channels and higher bandwidth for immersive bitstreams like DTS:X and Atmos. It has other features which may or may not get implemented as well.
