I'll pass. I already own the movies, including the 3D double dip for the last two.

Yeah, that's more than $40 per movie (and at a $500 MSRP, MAYBE it'll drop down to $300 and that's still more than $35 a movie). They're fun movies but at that price, you have to be a huge Harry Potter fan to even consider it.

I have dipped enough for these movies no more copies for me... I bought the first special package deal they had.

Yes, after The Order of the Phoenix, I bought that special "trunk" Blu-ray edition, and you know what? With all of the swag from it removed, it holds all of the movies just fine. That's where my Harry Potter films reside.

Maybe be premature, but the link provides a break down of the set, it seems.
Essentially, it's the Ultimate Editions for each film (three discs for Years 1 through 4, two discs for Years 5 through 7 part 2), plus two 3D discs for Hallows Parts 1 and 2, eight movie DVDs, and one bonus disc that has all the new "never before seen footage".
That makes this a skip for me. I own all of the BR's, with the first two being the ultimate editions. The only way I'd rebuy is if they did extended editions, I can't see a reason to rebuy just because it has different packaging.

Even if I didn't already have all of the Blu-rays and was a first-time buyer, $350 would make it skip for me.

I'm willing to bet that that might happen for the twentieth anniversary. Still, per the digitalbits.com Cuaron and Newell turned down the offer to do extended cuts for Azkaban and Goblet, so we may NEVER get extended cuts for those films.
I don't see an extended cut for Deathly Hallows for the simple fact that the book was split in two.

I strongly suspect it will happen alot sooner, I would imagine in the next 2 years. A little bit of poking around turned up a pretty significant quantity of filmed scenes that aren't even present in the deleted scenes on the discs. I doubt the studio will let this sit on a shelf untouched when it's going to let them sell the movies all over again once the sales drop off.
I wouldn't be surprised to discover that's why they seem to have killed the ultimate edition line, because they intend to redo it.
But, I could be wrong.

Ya know--can I just say one thing: for the premium price they expect to get for this item, you'd think that that little chest of drawers would be made of real wood, not flimsy cardboard.

I love these films, but, after buying all the ultimate editions for years 1-6, I cannot imagine purchasing this set at half the price.

I hope that this release is one that contains extra little collectables (cards, stickers, figurines, etc) like in the Ultimate Editions because, then, WB could release a separate set with just the disks and a traditional box (the current box to me is annoying) for less money. I would rather buy that.

They haven't killed the Ultimate Edition line. When WB announced the moratorium, Bill Hunt at the Digital Bits asked about the remaining 2 UEs (VII pts. 1 & 2) and was told they would be released this year.

So is this the big release that was promised or is it another stop gap to another one?
Since there's no release date set, I'm assuming it's coming in the fall and it's the big one... until a few more years from now when there's another one. :)
